1974 Sonor Champion – Metallic Red
This was my first Sonor kit. I bought it from the original owner for $900! The drums are 14x24, 9x13, 10x14, 12x15, 16x16 and 16x18. Shells are 6-ply beech with rounded bearing edges (except the 12x15 which is actually a 9-ply beech Phonic shell with 45 degree edges). The snare is an ‘84 Sonor Phonic Plus 8x14. Toms have Remo clear Pinstripes on top and Evans Resonants on the bottom. The kick drum has a Remo Powerstroke 3 batter and stock Sonor logo head on the front. This kit is LOUD and weighs a metric ton! Hardware is Pearl and Tama on a Gibraltar rack.

1994 Sonor Hilite – Dark Violet
This is the kit I gig most often. It’s 17x22, 9x10, 10x12 and 16x16. Shells are 9-ply maple. The snare is a Yamaha Maple Custom Absolut 5.5x14. The toms have Remo clear Ambassadors top and bottom. The kick drum has a Remo Powerstroke 3 on the batter side and custom front head by HeadFirst (www.headfirst-online.com). Hardware is Yamaha and Pearl.

2001 Sonor Delite – Birdseye Cherry
These are my pride and joy and they don’t leave the house. The kit is 17x22, 9x10, 10x12, 12x14, and 14x16 with a 6x14 snare. Shells are 4-ply maple with reinforcing rings. The toms have Remo coated Ambassadors on top and clear Ambassadors on the reso side. The kick drum has a Remo Powerstroke 3 on the batter side and stock Sonor logo head on the front. Hardware is Sonor 3000 series except the hi-hat.

This was my first Sonor drum. I got it used at a local shop for $200 and in doing so, discovered Sonor drums!

2000 Sonor Jubilee Edition 5x14 – Stain Black
A Christmas gift from my wife and kids, this drum very rarely leaves the house. Sonor made these to celebrate their 125th anniversary and to the best of my knowledge, made only 125. It’s a Delite shell and features a brass badge bearing the name and signature of the original owner…me! :c)
