Back in my dumber years, I took offense when somebody asked if they had plastic shells, so I stripped the white paint from the interiors - including the date stamps. A real genius I was...
The bass drum, 16" floor and 10, 12 & 13" were recovered in new reproduction Silver Sparkle. I can already hear groans from the "purists", but these drums are not going anywhere, EVER. The finish on the bass & floor was pretty much trashed & the 13 was gingeraled beyond recognition. So they were restored to "factory new" and the insides of the shells repainted with the proper off-white sealant. From the photo below, you can see I got a wild hair in the early 80's and painted the rims black!!! What a maroon!!!
This setup uses a DW Turbo Hihat, DW5000TH pedal, 60's Ludwig double tom holder with modern memory locks, early Ludwig Atlas cymbal stands, and a Gretsch snare stand.
Cymbals vary according to the job..
